VICTORVILLE, Calif., July 17 (High Desert News Online) — Costco food courts at several California warehouses have begun selling chicken strips, a $6.99 item that comes with five pieces and dipping sauce and, at some stores, has replaced the chain’s calzone.

Menu boards at the stores list the item at $6.99 and show 1,130 to 1,640 calories, depending on the location and preparation shown on the signs. Workers at Costco locations in Santa Rosa, Alhambra, Los Feliz, Bakersfield’s Rosedale Highway and Concord said the strips arrived on different dates in July.

A worker at the Santa Rosa store said the item arrived July 6. Workers at the Alhambra, Los Feliz and Bakersfield locations said the strips appeared July 11, and a Concord worker said they had been available for a few days by July 15.

In Victorville, the Costco warehouse at 14555 Valley Center Drive is also serving the new item, according to local menu observations. The staggered timing across California stores suggests the rollout is happening in stages rather than all at once.
