After 28 Years of Impactful Journalism
NEW YORK, NEW YORK (Times Media Service) – Neil Cavuto, a prominent voice in business news and a staple at Fox News since its launch in 1996, has announced his departure after nearly three decades of service. Cavuto, 66, opted not to renew his contract, hosting his final episode of Your World with Neil Cavuto on December 19, 2024.
Known for his steady, measured approach, Cavuto played a pivotal role in shaping Fox News’s business coverage. His portfolio included hosting multiple programs such as Your World with Neil Cavuto, Cavuto Live on Fox News, and Cavuto: Coast to Coast on Fox Business Network. Across his career, his balanced reporting style and insightful commentary earned him industry-wide respect.
Before joining Fox News, Cavuto built a solid foundation in journalism at CNBC, where he co-anchored the network’s inaugural broadcast in 1989 and hosted Power Lunch. His contributions extended to NBC’s Today and PBS’s Nightly Business Report, cementing his reputation as a reliable and thoughtful journalist.
In an emotional farewell address, Cavuto thanked his audience and colleagues, sharing, “I got to do what I love to do—report the news. Not shout the news, not blast the news… Just call balls and strikes.” He also reflected on his health struggles, including managing multiple sclerosis, undergoing heart surgery, and battling COVID-19, which he faced with resilience while continuing his work.
Fox News recognized Cavuto’s contributions, praising his career as “a master class in journalism.” The network emphasized his legacy, noting that his programs set a high standard for business reporting in the industry.
Cavuto’s departure marks a significant transition for Fox News, which will feature rotating hosts in his time slots until a permanent replacement is announced in January 2025.
As residents of California’s Paso Robles — an area known for its thriving business community and strong ties to the media world—reflect on Cavuto’s departure, his legacy of professionalism and integrity serves as a reminder of the power of steady, thoughtful journalism in today’s dynamic media landscape.
